Catch up with Sabrina Rabello
So it's technically a bit late to review 2009 and look ahead to 2010, but we're not worried, we didn't want you to miss out on this lovely interview with Sabrina Rabello..
Looking back over the past year – what has been the highlight for you?
Definitely recording my album and moving to a new country, a new adventure and lots of projects. I am coming to the place I've always wanted to do music, and that in itself, is a lot to cherish for.
What is your favourite album of 2009?
Well, that depends...I don't know about general releases, but the album I most listened to this year was probably, Lizz Wright's "Salt" and the BRILLIANT Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band's "Season of Changes" both produced by Brian Blade. None of them were released this year, but they were both sort of my albums of the year.
Favourite track of 2009?
Ok, I'll put something of this year: Norah Jones, "Chasing Pirates".
Best gig of 2009? (a: that you went to, and b: performed)
a) Brad Mehldau Trio, at the Barbican
b) An intimate gig in Sao Paulo, Brazil, pre-releazing my album and my musical collaborator's work (Fernando de La Rua) there, at the bar "Kabul"
What plans have you got for the rest of 2010?
I moved to Boston 3 months ago, with the album almost ready, I'll be focusing my time into forming a new band to promote the album material and new songs. The plan is to promote them online and well establish my musical base here in the US/east cost music scene. It is an awesome opportunity, given the incredible amount of talented musicians from all over the world coming to study at Berklee College of Music, Massachusetts Conservatory, etc...I started some musical collaborations with some already, and I just moved in!
So why should be we keeping an eye on your MySpace/Blog/Website over the coming weeks months?
Because, my album is finally going to be out, I'll be releasing a music video and other promotional material.
Which artist would you most like to collaborate with in the future?
Brian Blade as he's both a producer, singer-songwriter and jazz musician.
